Sweet Fried Dumplings (Kaimati)

Let your kids come home from school and instead of finding their usual snack, surprise them with something new. Something have never seen before or rather tasted.

Sweet Fried Dumplings (Kaimati) Recipe



➧1 Cup Sugar
➧1 Cup water
➧1 tsp Ground Cardamom (or 3 whole Cardamom pods)


➧1 Cup All-Purpose Flour
➧1 Tsp Instant Yeast
¹/₂ Cup Natural Yogurt (Mala)
➧1 Tbsp Butter; Melted
➧Water; as needed

How to Prepare Sweet Fried Dumplings (Kaimati)

In a thick bottomed pan, add the sugar, water, and cardamom. Bring to a boil and reduce the heat to low. Simmer until the syrup has a honey consistency.

In a bowl, add the flour followed by the yeast, natural yogurt, and butter.

Mix well and add a little water (a tsp at a time) until you get a smooth dough that you can pick with your fingers.

Put it in a piping bag and slowly drop in a little of the mix at a time into hot oil.

Fry until lightly golden brown

**If you’re daring (and this takes practice) you can take the dough in your hand and squeeze to make a fist little will pass through your thumb and index finger, drop that into the hot oil.
