Pilau or pilaf is one of the most delicious foods you can ever eat, especially if you love spices!

The basic definition of pilau is cooked rice in seasoned broth; you can also add chicken or red meat to this dish. There are many reasons why you should try cooking beef pilau; it is healthy, yummy and best of all, guilt-free!

Pilau masala is generally made up of life-enhancing detoxing spices such as bay leaves, black pepper, cardamom, cinnamon, cloves, cilantro, and cumin. We have also added benefits of garlic and turmeric

Beef, fluffy rice, spices and a whole lot of flavor. Try out this delicious Beef Pilau recipe, it’s a fantastic dish to share!

Ingredients:

➧ 2 cups of rice
➧ 1 bulb traditional garlic (crushed)
➧ 1 red chili chopped
➧ 1 kg lean beef (cubed)
➧ Cooking oil (preferably Rice Bran oil)
➧ 2 tbsp tomato paste
➧ 1 tbsp pilau masala
➧ 1 tsp turmeric powder
➧ 1 tbsp Himalayan/sea salt
➧ 1 tsp sugar
➧ 2 large onions (white because of flavor)

Instructions:

⏩Chop the beef into cubes and boil until tender (*keep the stock*)
⏩Pour cooking oil into a separate pot
⏩Add sugar
⏩Add sliced onions and fry till slightly nearly brown
⏩Add the beef and garlic and slightly stir fry with the onions for 3 minutes
⏩Add some pilau masala to allow the beef to adopt the spice
⏩Add raw rice to the pan and stir to mix both ingredients
⏩Add pilau masala, turmeric, tomato paste and salt (in one-minute intervals)
⏩Add 5 cups of water mixed with broth left from boiling the meat
⏩Again sprinkle ¹/₂ tsp of pilau masala, and bring to a quick boil for 5 minutes
⏩Reduce the heat and add a teaspoon of oil, as this prevents rice from sticking
⏩Serve and garnish with kachumbari/salsa salad
