These spicy lentil patties are perfect for satisfying your spicy food cravings! They’re easy to make, protein-rich and have a spicy and smoky flavor!

• 1 cup green grams, cooked and drained
• ½ cup breadcrumbs
• 1 medium onion, finely chopped
• 1 large egg, lightly beaten
• 1 tsp. mixed spice
• salt to taste
• ¼ cup coriander (dhania), finely chopped
• oil, for frying.


Mix all the ingredients, except the oil, in a large bowl. Place half the mixture in a blender and process until it has a paste consistency. Add the remaining green gram mixture and blend.

Scoop out tablespoonfuls into your hand and form into patties of approximately 3 inches in diameter. Heat the oil in a large frying pan on medium-high heat. Fry the green gram patties for 2 - 3 minutes on each side or until golden brown.

Note: You don't have to cook all the patties at once. Cover the bowl and freeze the mixture for later use within at least the next 3 - 4 days.
