Breakfast does not always have to be restricted to tea, eggs, bacon, and bread. Oatmeal smoothies are an easy yet healthy option to get that energy you need for the day. Their consistency is thicker than smoothies. More like thick porridge or yogurt. You could be thinking oatmeal is just a boring cereal, no flavor, not interesting. The good news is, it doesn’t have to be plain old oatmeal. There are many ways to include more nutrients by adding fruits, yogurt or nuts to it.

OATMEAL SMOOTHIE WITH NUTS AND APPLE

Ingredients


☛1 serving of Oatmeal
☛1 apple, chopped into 2cm cubes
☛1 tbsp coconut oil
☛1 teaspoon each nutmeg, cinnamon, ginger
☛¹/₄ cup walnuts, chopped
☛1 tsp maple syrup (optional)

Directions


  • Heat a separate, small frying pan over medium heat and melt coconut oil.
  • Add the chopped apple, spices and walnuts and cook until apple has softened and spices are stirred through.
  • Once cooked, add half the apple and walnuts to our classic Oatmeal recipe and stir until combined.
  • Spoon the oats into a bowl, top with remaining apple and walnut mixture and drizzle with maple syrup.

OATMEAL SMOOTHIE WITH BANANA AND CINNAMON

Ingredients


☛1 serving of Classic Oatmeal
☛1 ripe banana
☛1 tsp ground cinnamon
☛1 tsp coconut oil

Directions


  • Once the oats are cooked, add half the chopped banana and the cinnamon to the pot and stir until combined. Cook for a further 2-3 minutes until the banana has softened, adding more liquid if necessary.
  • Heat a pan over medium heat and melt 1 teaspoon of coconut oil.
  • Cut the remaining banana in half lengthwise.
  • Place cut side down on the pan and cook for 2-3 minutes, until golden and caramelized. Remove from pan.
  • Spoon your banana-cinnamon oats into a bowl and top with the cooked banana, and an extra dash of cinnamon.

☛2 tablespoons unsweetened flaked coconut
☛1 serving quick-cooking or old-fashioned rolled oats
☛1 tablespoon brown sugar
☛¹/₂ cup mango, chopped
☛2 tablespoons cashews, chopped

Directions

  • Preheat oven to 350°F. Spread the coconut on a rimmed baking sheet and toast, tossing occasionally, until golden, 3 to 5 minutes.
  • Prepare the oats according to the package directions. Stir in the brown sugar. Top with the mangoes, cashews, and the coconut.
