My everyday skincare routine for oily skin
The beauty you can control starts from the inside first. Make sure you're the person you want to be, or you'll never be happy with yourself. This is a daily choice. Make sure you eat right and give your body what it deserves. Exercise and rest. Maintain good hygiene. Then worry about the makeup. Makeup's best function is enhancing what you have, not trying to mask underlying issues. And I mean this in the way that it's not a permanent solution. I have really bad acne scarring, and I rely on makeup a lot. But making steps toward reducing my acne and treating the problem at the source makes me way more confident than when I'm eating however I want and in generally bad health with bad skin and trying to cover it with makeup.

Today, I’ve got an everyday skincare routine for oily skin for you. About 90% of women that I know and have met (including me) have oily skin and taking care of it can be a little stressful but trust me, it’s definitely worth it.

Oily skin can be incredibly frustrating (I have oily skin so I understand the struggle). Not only are you more prone to blackheads and acne than any other skin type, but you have a permanent shine on your face that never seems to go away.

Not to worry – I have 6 skincare tips that will help you manage the oil slick on your face. These tips will help you manage your oil production, find the best type of makeup to use, and more.

1. Wash your face twice a day

Once in the morning and once before bed. Washing your face more than this can strip your skin of all the natural moisturizers and increase oil production.

2. Use A Gentle Cleanser

If you need something stronger, look for ingredients specifically made for oily skin and acne, such as benzoyl peroxide, salicylic acid, glycolic acid, or beta hydroxy acid. Although usually marketed for acne, these products work well for oily skin too.

3. Don’t Scrub Too Much

Exfoliating the skin 2-3 times a week is more than enough for removing dead cells and blackheads. Overdoing the scrubbing strips the skin of its natural oils and moisture and makes it dry.

4. Choose The Right Moisturizer

Oily skin still needs to be moisturized, but be careful to choose the right moisturizer. Look for water-based or oil-free moisturizers and stay away from creams and heavy moisturizers.

5. Know Which Foundation Works

When choosing the foundation and other makeup, pick those with gel, liquid or powder bases. If using liquid make-up, make sure it is water-based, not oil-based. Makeup labeled “noncomedogenic” contain ingredients that won’t clog your pores.

6. Control

Control the temptation of touching your face with your hands, as it transfers additional oil, dirt, and germs to your face making it prone to outbreaks.
